Turf Installation & Laying

Turf laying is a quick, easy and time efficient way for you to transform your garden. Maintain Me have years of experience dealing with Sydney lawns and are experts in turf installation and maintenance.

Turf Installation Process

The installation process we follow is tried and tested and has worked effectively for hundreds of gardens here in Sydney.
We start by measuring the area where the process of laying artificial grass takes place. Measuring the area helps to determine how much artificial grass installation is required. Having worked out the total area to be covered, we add between three and five percent to account for cutoffs, then follow this landscaping process:

1. Zap

Before laying your brand new turf, we want to ensure that any pre-existing weeds are eradicated first. This will prevent the weeds from growing through the new turf and takes place 7 - 10 days before the artificial lawn turf is installed.

2. Old Lawn Removal

If you are looking to replace your old lawn, you must begin by removing it. The correct way to go about this is by using garden tools such as a turf cutter. We set the cutting depth in such a way that it will help remove the thatch layer located beneath the surface of the old lawn.

3. Enhance

The surface will most likely have become compacted making it necessary to break up the soil. Breaking the soil up allows oxygen to penetrate the soil, which in turn encourages deep rooting. We also integrate a premium turf underlay, which is a light, well draining soil mix that further encourages downward root growth.

4. Level

To ensure the turf is even and flat, we use a turf roller which creates a firm foundation for the turf. This prevents the lawn from being bumpy.

5. Installation

To guarantee the best results and lawn quality, you have to ensure that the artificial turf installation is completed within twenty-four hours. When rolled up, its grass leaves will not be receiving any sunlight and will quickly start to turn yellow, before dying off. We immediately start to lay the synthetic grass/turf, which is sourced locally here in Sydney, in a brickwork-like pattern, which encourages even growth.

4. After Care

Once the artificial grass is installed, maintenance is key. We start by mending the seams and watering the lawn as the turf needs to remain moist until it becomes properly rooted. We will then provide you with the best advice to keep your newly laid turf healthy and aesthetically pleasing. You can also take advantage of our regular garden maintenance services, to keep your lawn and garden looking beautiful.
